Topeka is leading the way in innovative stormwater management in Kansas and the Midwest. The City provides sewage treatment and flood prevention for the community and seeks to improve surface and ground water quality by filtering stormwater runoff through native plant systems.

The use of these living systems to help decrease runoff and remove pollutants is called green infrastructure. This green infrastructure also provides additional green spaces in the Topeka Community.
